Passion of Christ, strengthen me

Unconditionally book coverAnima Christi: Passion of Christ, strengthen me

The fourth of seven meditations on the Anima Christi from Unconditionally, Finding Jesus in the Eucharist

by Greg Wasinski

The journey involved in the Passion gives us the ability to connect ourselves with the strength it took for Jesus to get from the Last Supper to the cross. After all, He wasn’t just seized and killed in the streets immediately. Christ not only knew what would happen (as evident in the tears He shed in the garden) but He needed to find inner strength to accept the Father’s will. Where does the strength come from that would allow Him to complete what He came to do despite his fear? The answer is He loved us that much, a way in which we should be strong enough to love him back.

He died His human death for you and I. Think about what He endured for us, how strong He must have been when all seemed lost. We are striving to share in this courage and strength to remain vigilant for the road we travel on. Knowing that our Good Friday might be what we are experiencing, now, while understanding it yields our own personal Easter Sunday triumph.

Through His Passion we pray, “Lord, please give me the grace I need to be strong enough just as you were to fulfill your ultimate purpose. Allow me to remember how your obedience changed the world and that in your image I will have the resolve to get through anything. When I fall, help me get up and keep going.”
