Friars Corner: Are we listening?

1 Kings 19:9a, 11-13a; Psalm 85:9-14; Romans 9:1-5; Matthew 14:22-33

The scriptures this weekend see God’s quiet and steady hand pulling His friends through stormy times. We need that steady assurance during these Covid times. Elijah hears God’s voice in a quiet breeze. And Peter was able to get out of his boat in the middle of a storm and move toward Jesus on the water.

In a way, we are in a bit of a story that is only going to get worse. Like Elijah, we are at a turning point and not yet hiding in a cave for survival. I am not going to “tiptoe through the tulips.” I am not going to be silent now lest I burn in hell because I said nothing. Jesus told Vassula Ryden on July 12, 2020, that the people of earth have brought this pandemic on themselves because we have turned so far away from God and His directives for us.

Many in one of our political parties have turned away from God to follow satan, his demons on earth, and become his disciples doing his bidding. Can we call upon St. Patrick to “get the snakes out of Congress?” I am not joking. We are in a war fighting for our own freedom and the survival of our nation. Ten of the tribes of Israel were destroyed because they were disobedient to God. Two survived at the time of Jesus but the city of Jerusalem was destroyed by the Romans in 70 A.D. with only the Upper Room left intact.

The USA was colonized and founded by major European nations, Spain, France and England, yet we “stole” this land from its native inhabitants. We were founded for “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,” the Bill of Rights. The moral principles came from our Jewish/Christian principles especially the Ten Commandments given to Moses. The first one is: “I, the Lord am your God: you shall not have other gods besides Me.” The fifth is: “Thou shall not kill.” Our current struggle, for life or death, is against removing God and His guidelines from our nation. It is a war between good and evil. Satan wants a one-world government and economy with all “God-stuff” out and him in charge.

Politics

Many in one major party have thrown God out. The failure of the emergency stimulus bill to help Americans through this public health crisis is that the d-party wants funding for abortions and several other things. Many oppose it and our pro-life President will not sign. Some in our culture say “black lives matter.” All lives matter! As a nation, we fund and keep open certain “death camps” to kill innocent unborn humans at over 300,000 a year with our tax money. How long do you think God will allow this? We are at a crossroads. When two ex-Catholics are pushing this idea, what is God going to say? Who are we going to vote for?

Jesus says we are still in a time of His mercy for a little while longer, but His time of judgment is quickly approaching. This virus we have brought on ourselves has affected the whole world. What God is going to do next will be far more shocking. He is going to do a world-wide reset/ warning and then show every person on earth the state of their soul as He sees it. Then we shall have a short time to get our lives in order. The “weeds will be gathered up and burned” while the good wheat will be gathered by God’s angels, perhaps in safe havens for a while. We will have to make our choice soon.

Go to the Source

What will put us on the right path to be filled with God’s great joy? The Mass is the greatest source of God’s power in our lives, our daily spiritual good. Gaze into the beautiful eyes of Jesus from the beautiful picture of Jesus by Bette Myers, www.truefaceofjesus.com. To help you develop a deeper prayer life, along with the priests and religious, you can pray some of the Divine Office, on these apps on a smartphone or tablet.” On the web, go to: “laudate,” “ibrevary,” “divine office,” or “liturgy of hours.” They are free. They are mostly scripture with some prayers for various situations in our world. These prayers give you the official structure for morning and evening, in a four-week schedule. It really gives your prayer the wings of the Holy Spirit to go more fully into the heart of Jesus and so we help push out the darkness around us.

Jesus said to Sr. Faustina, in the 1930s, to frequently pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. You may also pray a rosary. Jesus is our only hope of Salvation. He is our only Way, Truth and Life, John 14:6.

Safe blessings from His Sacred Heart,
