STEPPING UP

There were many long, difficult days. Days where nothing seemed to change, nothing seemed to get better. I didn’t know if I was ever going to get better. Despite all circumstances that seemed rather bleak, I knew I had to put my trust in God.

Prayer Companion: Leave the Doing to God

God lets me wait for the surprise ending as my sisters did. My older sister would make me wait, just like I did my little sister, for a surprise kiss or cookie until the big task was finished — cleaning the bathroom, cooking dinner or decorating for a party.
When I work hard at my goals and wait on Jesus, I enjoy the ending more than the start because of the joy of looking in his eyes and anticipating a glorious ending.

Tripping Over a Treasure Trove

For the first time, I saw how a person could be both devout and a lively intellectual. Well-educated Catholics will laugh at my naiveté but I was raised with the typical secular view of Catholicism as repressive, medieval and anti-intellectual. To say that this book piqued my curiosity is a vast understatement. I felt as though I had tripped over the entrance to a spiritual treasure trove. I truly felt touched by the hand of God, and I fell in love with Catholicism.

Do you panic when asked about your Catholic faith?

Right on the Mark!
When we are asked how we first realized that Jesus is our Lord who loves us, few will be able to share a coherent and extemporaneous narrative. We will probably recall our stories of faith randomly without order. Her many suggestions, especially of journaling and creating a timeline, make for a better understanding of our lives and later, for sharing our stories. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and had to carve a particular time to read it. I did not want to rush myself through the book because I found it spiritually nourishing to be able to dig deep into my memory files to recall those incidents in my life when I realized Jesus was with me. As she was going through her tips and techniques, I knew I was going to implement these in my future writings. The emotions that she felt during her journey were so alive that I thought I was walking in her shoes in my journey as well. A very inspiring read and a treasure-trove of writing tips and faith stories – An Anonymous Writer

What will be your response today during the trials of sickness, financial worries, children acting out, and the overwhelming minute-by-minute demands of motherhood? Are you tempted to focus on yourself? Your needs? Or is the Holy Spirit inspiring you to become the good news?

Why You – Yes, You! – Need to Share Your Catholic Faith Story
