The Pentecost Novena…for a new culture of Pentecost

“Oh, if only…unanimous and fervent prayers could be raised to Heaven in every part of Christendom as they were one in the Cenacle (upper room) of Jerusalem for a rekindling of the Divine Spirit.”   Bl. Elena Guerra

Imagine what would happen if “unanimous and fervent prayers” were raised in every time zone in the world for nine days!

Imagine what would happen if we witnessed to the power of the Holy Spirit in every part of the world throughout the 24 hours of Pentecost Sunday!

Imagine what God could do if we united in prayer and celebration for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit on our world!

Imagine our world transformed!

Together We Pray!  Operation Upper Room  –  May 15 – 23, 2015

“Operation Upper Room” is a concerted initiative of prayer during the nine days between Ascension Thursday and Pentecost Sunday.   It is a return to the Upper Room, to intercede with Mary and the disciples for the rekindling of the grace of the first Pentecost, rediscovering the life and the gifts of the Holy Spirit, whose original source is Pentecost.

Individuals, prayer groups, communities and parishes are all encouraged to pray a novena to the Holy Spirit for the intention “that the spirituality of Pentecost will be spread for a new Culture of Pentecost in the Church for the New Evangelization.”  Intercessors will be united together weaving a dense global “net” of prayer which will be continuous, night and day, during the nine days before Pentecost (on national, regional and local levels).  One suggested novena format is the Burning Bush Novena.

There is no mandatory structure for Pentecost of the Nations prayer nets or events – all are free to utilize whatever prayers and events are familiar and fruitful to you as an individual, group or community.

Together We Celebrate!  Pentecost Celebrations – May 23-24, 2015

You are encouraged to organize a special event in your community or group.  In unity with others throughout the nation and the world, these events will each testify to the “spirituality of Pentecost” as part of the great Charismatic family.  Here are some objectives to keep in mind when planning:

  • Pentecost Celebration events provide a united witness and proclamation of the Good News of Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit to the ends of the earth. (Acts 1.8).
  • Pentecost Celebration events may include charismatic prayer, praise & worship, short teachings, testimonies, a solemn invocation of the Holy Spirit and possibly a concert to glorify God!

Now to him who is able to accomplish far more than all we ask or imagine,
by the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus
to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. (Eph 3:20-21)
