I love this quote from Blessed Teresa of Calcutta:

People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered: Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives: Be kind anyway.

If you are successful you will win some false friends and true enemies: Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank people will try to cheat you: Be honest anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight: Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous of you: Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, will often be forgotten by tomorrow: Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough: Give your best anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.

Blessed Teresa of Calcutta

  1. Nancy, my mother quoted some of Mother Theresa's wise words to me only just today. Everything I read from her keeps me humble and thankful for what I have in my life, mostly love and family are the most important things in the world to me. I get home and here is your lovely post with another great set of life's lessons from her, thanks for sharing this list its a good one to live by and thanks for visiting my place too.

This quote inspires a comment or blog with every line. Watch for more blogs on this as Blessed Teresa’s words buzz in my head creating all kinds of new ideas for blogs. And more importantly, her words seem to bring her spirit close, inspiring my own attitudes. Her words sound like scripture verses because they are based on her interpretation of them that she acted out so beautifully and with such perseverance.

I enjoy your site. You are my first Aussie friend.
