Part 1 in the Journaling toward God series

Why do so many people spend time journaling? What’s this mysterious attraction to scribbling in a notebook?

For me, my journal, like the Holy Spirit, is my companion, healer, counselor, confessor, supporter, loyal confidant, discerner, and the best listener I’ve ever known.

The Holy Spirit uses the synergy of prayer and journaling to reveal myself to me. Through my journal, he gives me hints on what God is doing in my life.

He provides creative ways to solve problems and prompts me to be grateful for everything! He tempers my emotions by stirring me to action or calming my disordered overreactions.

Journaling develops my relationship with the Holy Spirit, who is Wisdom itself.

Relationship of unconditional love

Like all relationships, this one doesn’t develop with the first journal entry, but blossoms quicker than human relationships. It’s more like the natural bond between mother and child in that it’s difficult to define accurately to define. That’s because it’s based on unconditional love that begins before birth.

Of the many stellar benefits of journaling, this joining of our life with that of the Holy Spirit rises like a rocket above the other reasons for keeping a journal. Keep this foremost in your mind as we explore the benefits of journaling to your mind, body and spirit, and discover what happens when we add the element of spirituality to keeping track of what’s significant in your life.

Catch the vision

We will learn different ways, times, and places to journal. Most importantly, we’ll delve into why we journal.

I’ll share my experience of keeping spiritual journals over many years. Perhaps you will catch the vision of journaling toward God and find something you’ve been missing — something God can do for you!
